Hon. Timothy Coon (Ret.) served as a judge for the Polk County Court in the Tenth Judicial Circuit of Florida. He was appointed to the bench by former Governor Lawton Chiles in November 1995. Coon retired in 2012.
He held assignments in the Criminal and Small Claims Divisions.
Prior to his judicial career, Coon worked as an attorney in private practice, handling Social Security Disability matters for ten years. Before that, he spent time as an assistant state attorney (1984 to 1985).
He received an A.A. from Gulf Coast Community College (1972) and a B.A. from the University of South Florida (1975). Coon went on to complete a J.D. at Florida State University College of Law in 1978. He was admitted to practice in Florida in 1979.
After graduating from law school, Coon began his legal career as an assistant state attorney. He served in that capacity until 1979, at which time he joined the Judge Advocate General's Corps of the United States Air Force.
