The Hon. Timothy W. Wilson is a senior resident judge for the Nash County Superior Court in the 7A Judicial District of the 1st Division in North Carolina. He was appointed to the bench by Governor Roy Cooper in December 2022, filling the vacancy created by the retirement of the Hon. Quentin Sumner.
Prior to his appointment, Wilson was a partner at Poyner Spruill LLP. During his tenure with the firm, he was a member of the Management Committee, and his practice focused on eminent domain and land condemnation and tort insurance litigation, including insurance defense and coverage, products liability, will caveats, and major plaintiff’s personal injury and wrongful death. Wilson also argued before the North Carolina Court of Appeals and the North Carolina Supreme Court.
Before joining the firm, he taught high school math as a member of the Teach for America Charter Corps.
He received a B.S. at Duke University. Wilson then completed a J.D. at the University of Georgia School of Law.
