Hon. Todd E. Kohlrieser is a judge for the Allen County Court of Common Pleas (Probate and Juvenile Division) in Ohio. He was elected to the bench in 2020 to fill the vacancy created by the retirement of the Hon. Glenn H. Derryberry (Ret.).
Prior to his election, Kohlrieser had presided as chief magistrate of the court’s Juvenile Division since 2015. He was appointed to that position after serving for seven years as a magistrate of the court (2008 to 2015).
He received a B.A. in history from the University of Toledo in 1999. Kohlrieser went on to complete a J.D. at Ohio Northern University, Claude W. Pettit College of Law in 2002. While still a law student, he worked as an intern for the Public Defender’s Office at the Lima Municipal Court. He is also a graduate of the Allen Lima Leadership Program (Class of 2019)
After graduating from law school, Kohlrieser began his legal career as an attorney in the Law Offices of Thomas Kuhn and Randy Reeves. At the firm, he handled credit card disputes, civil litigation, and criminal law matters. Then, in 2003, Kohlrieser became an assistant city prosecutor for the City of Lima, a position he held for five years until joining the Allen County Juvenile Court as a magistrate.
His memberships have included the Allen County Bar Association (Juvenile Court Committee and Admissions Committee), the Ohio State Bar Association, and the Ohio Judicial Conference.
While on the bench, Kohlrieser has served as a member of the Court’s Treatment Advisory Board and the Drug Court Treatment Program. In addition, he has sat on the Ohio Supreme Court’s Quality Hearing Workgroup and the Subcommittee on Responding to Child Abuse, Neglect, and Dependency and completed its Dependency Case Flow Management Program.
His civic involvement included the Lima Noon Optimist Club, the Fraternal Order of Police, and the Knights of Columbus.
Kohlrieser was born and raised in Northwest Ohio. He is married to the Hon. Terri L. Kohlrieser, who presides as a judge for the General Division of the Allen County Court of Common Pleas. They have two children.
He is registered as a Republican.
