Hon. Troy J. LeFevre is a judge for the Southeast Judicial District of North Dakota. He was elected to the bench in 2016.
The Southeast Judicial District includes Barnes, Dickey, Eddy, Foster, Griggs, LaMoure, Ransom, Richland, Sargent, Stutsman, and Wells Counties.
Prior to his appointment, LeFevre was the chief assistant state’s attorney in Stutsman County, having held the post since 2006.
Before becoming a prosecutor, he served as a law clerk for the Southeast Judicial District (2004 to 2006) and was in private practice for two years (2002 to 2004).
He received a B.A. in political science from the University of North Dakota in 1996. LeFevre then spent almost two years working on oil well drilling rigs in western North Dakota and eastern Montana before completing a J.D. at the University of North Dakota School of Law in 2002.
He also attended the Denver Paralegal Institute, graduating in 1997.
LeFevre was admitted to practice in North Dakota (2002) and Minnesota (2003).
He was born and raised in Jamestown, North Dakota, where he attended Jamestown High School. LeFevre and his wife, Wenda, have three children.
