The Hon. Vanessa Agee Jackson (Ret.) served as a judge for the 14th Judicial District Circuit Court of Tennessee. Jackson was appointed to the bench by former Governor Phil Bredesen on April 21, 2009, filling a vacancy created by the passing of the Hon. John W. Rollins. She retired at the conclusion of her term in 2022.
The 14th Judicial District encompasses Coffee County.
Jackson earned a bachelor’s degree from the University of Tennessee in 1976. She then completed a J.D. at the University of Tennessee College of Law in 1978. She is licensed to practice in Tennessee (1979), the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Tennessee, and the United States Court of Appeals for the 6th Circuit.
After graduating from law school, Jackson began her legal career as in-house counsel for First Federal Savings & Loan Association in Tullahoma. She subsequently entered into private practice, working as an attorney at Henry & McCord before joining Hull, Ray, Rieder, Ewell, Lane & Ridner.
Her memberships have included the American Bar Association, the Tennessee Bar Association, and the Coffee County Bar Association. She has also been involved with the Coffee County Election Commission and the Tullahoma Industrial Board.
She was named Outstanding Professional Woman by the Tullahoma Business and Professional Women’s Club (1990).
Residents of Tullahoma, Tennessee, Jackson and her husband, Donald, have one daughter. The family attends First United Methodist Church of Tullahoma.
She is registered as a Democrat.
