Hon. Wayne A. Gruber is a judge for the Pulaski County District Court in Arkansas. He was elected to the bench in 2000.
While on the bench, Gruber is credited with implementing the Pulaski County Drug Court DWI/Sobriety Court Program, which is sponsored by the National Highway Safety and Transportation Administration.
Prior to his election, he was a partner in the Gruber Law Firm, having practiced at the firm for twenty years.
Gruber received a B.A. (1975) and an M.S.W. from the University of Arkansas (1976). He went on to complete a J.D. at the University of Arkansas at Little Rock, William H. Bowen School of Law in 1979.
Gruber is a past president of the Pulaski County Bar Association and the Arkansas District Judges’ Council.
He was named District Judge of the Year (2001, 2009, and 2014) and is the recipient of the Lawyer Citizen Award (2018) from the Pulaski County Bar Association.
Gruber, now retired, served in the Arkansas National Guard 189th Airlift Wing. During that time, he served for sixteen years as Judge Advocate and ten years as Staff Judge Advocate. Before joining the National Guard, he spent four years on active duty at Little Rock Air Force Base.
Gruber is married to the Hon. Rita W. Gruber, a judge for the Arkansas Court of Appeals. They have two grown children.
