The Hon. Zane Anderson (Ret.) served as a judge for the North Dakota Southwest Judicial District. Anderson was elected to the bench in 1994. He retired on November 1, 2015.
The Southwest Judicial District includes Adams County, Billings County, Bowman County, Dunn County, Golden Valley County, Hettinger County, Slope County, and Stark County.
Anderson earned a bachelor’s degree from the University of North Dakota in 1973. He then completed a J.D. at the University of North Dakota School of Law in 1978. He is admitted to practice in North Dakota (1978), the United States District Court for the District of North Dakota (1978), and Minnesota (1984).
After graduating from law school, Anderson began his legal career as the State’s Attorney for Bowman County. He served in that capacity until 1983, at which time he entered into private practice in Minnesota. Then, in 1987, he returned to North Dakota, where he continued his practice before becoming a multi-county judge in 1990.
Born in Hettinger, North Dakota, Anderson and his wife, Bonnie, have three daughters.
