Judge Amanda N. Torres - Professional Background & Legal Expertise

Biography

The Hon. Amanda N. Torres (Ret.) was a judge for the County Court at Law No. 5 in Nueces County, Texas. She joined the County Court in February 2014 and left its bench later that same year.

Prior to serving on the County Court, Torres was a Justice of the Peace for Precinct 1-Place 1 in Nueces County for three years (2009 to 2012).

During her brief hiatus from the bench, she practiced at Branscomb Law before returning to the bench in 2014.

Torres received a B.A. from Texas A&M University in 2002. She went on to complete a J.D. at St. Mary’s University School of Law in 2007.

Shortly after graduating from law school, Torres joined the Nueces County District Attorney’s Office, where she worked for one year until joining the Justice of the Peace bench.

She was a member of the Litigation Law Section of the State Bar of Texas and a former member of the board of directors of the Texas Justice Court Training Center. Torres also served as director of the Texas Young Lawyers Association, the Corpus Christi Young Lawyers Association, the Corpus Christi Bar Association, and the Texas Justice Court Training Center.

She was named a Rising Star by the Texas Super Lawyers (2016) and was a recipient of the Student Support Heroes Award (2014).

Torres rejoined Branscomb Law as senior counsel in the firm’s Litigation Practice Group after leaving the bench in 2014.

Born and raised in Corpus Christi, Texas, she enjoys crafting, gardening, and spending time outdoors.
