Judge Andrea K. Bouressa - Professional Background & Legal Expertise

Biography

The Hon. Andrea K. Bouressa is a judge for the 471st District Court in Collin County, Texas. She was appointed to the bench by Governor Greg Abbott in 2019.

Prior to her appointment, Bouressa was an attorney at Scheef & Stone, a law firm she joined in 2016. Over the course of her legal career, Bouressa’s practice involved insurance defense, employment litigation, medical product liability defense, and business and commercial litigation.

Bouressa earned a B.S. in sociology and psychology from Texas A&M University (2002) and an M.S. in sociology from the University of North Texas (2005). She then completed a J.D. at the Southern Methodist University, Dedman School of Law in 2008. As a law student, she was a staff assistant in the Office of the United States Senator John Cornyn, where she research legislative histories, analyzed the constitutionality of proposed legislation, and provided support to caseworkers.

After graduating from law school, Bouressa entered into private practice. She started as an associate at Henslee Schwartz, handling commercial litigation, insurance coverage, and appellate law matters. Then, in 2011, she moved to Shannon, Gracey, Ratliff & Miller. She spent the next two years with the firm, eventually leaving to join Dykema Cox Smith.

Her memberships have included the Collin County Bar Association, the Collin County Women Lawyers Association, and the Federalist Society.

A resident of Murphy, Texas, Bouressa and her husband have two daughters. When not presiding over the bench, Bouressa enjoys spending time with her children, volunteering for the Golden Corridor Republican Women, the Collin County Christian Prayer Breakfast, and the Boggess Elementary PTA.

She is registered as a Republican.
