Judge Angelica Jimenez: Professional Background and Legal Expertise

The Hon. Angelica Jimenez is a judge for the 408th (Civil) District Court in Bexar County, Texas. She was elected to the bench in 2016 and re-elected in 2020. Her current term expires on December 31, 2024.

Jimenez earned a B.A. in Spanish language and literature from the University of Texas at Austin in 1998. She spent the next decade working as a banker and financial advisor before completing a J.D. at St. Mary's University School of Law in 2010.

After graduating from law school, Jimenez entered into private practice, specializing in family law, criminal law, and immigration law. She first worked as an associate at the Law Offices of Gerald Gonzales. Two years later, she left the firm and started her own private practice as a sole practitioner. Then, in 2013, she joined Figueroa & Jimenez, where she worked as a partner until her election to the bench.

Her memberships have included the Texas Family Bar Association, the American Bar Association, the Bexar County Women's Bar Association, the Mexican-American Bar Association, and the Latina Advisory Committee of the Girl Scouts.

Jimenez was raised in Eagle Pass, Texas. Her father owned his own small business as a baker. Her mother worked as a licensed vocational nurse. She is fluent in English and Spanish. Jimenez and her husband, Javier, have three children. Javier is also a practicing attorney.

She is registered as a Democrat.
