Biography

The Hon. Armando J. Marroquin is a judge for the Hidalgo County Court at Law No. 10 in Texas.


Prior to his election, Marroquin was an attorney in private practice, where he handled a broad range of civil, family, and criminal matters in Hidalgo County.


Marroquin earned a bachelor’s degree in business management from the University of Texas at San Antonio in 1998. He then completed a J.D. at Texas Southern University, Thurgood Marshall School of Law, in 2003. As a law student, Marroquin clerked at the United States Immigration and Naturalization Services’ Appeals Office in Houston.


He is licensed to appear before the United States Bankruptcy Court for the Southern District of Texas and the United States District Court for the Western District of Texas.


After graduating from law school, Marroquin began his legal career as an assistant district attorney with the Hidalgo County District Attorney’s Office. He prosecuted juvenile, misdemeanor, and felony cases until 2007, at which time he opened his own private practice.


Marroquin and his wife, Sonia, have three children. The family resides in Edinburg, Texas, and attends Holy Spirit Catholic Church in McAllen.
