Judge Christopher J. Marshall - Professional Background & Legal Expertise

Biography

Hon. Christopher J. Marshall is a judge for the 4th Judicial District Circuit Court of Oregon in Multnomah County. He was elected to the bench in 2002.

Prior to his election, Marshall was a partner at Lane Powell Spears Lubersky LLP, where he practiced for eight years. At the firm, he represented clients in dispute resolutions, including arbitration and mediation. Marshall also mediated and arbitrated commercial employment, real estate, and personal injury disputes.

He received a bachelor’s degree from Oregon State University. Marshall went on to complete a J.D. at Willamette University College of Law in 1985. He was admitted to practice in Oregon (1985) and Washington (1987).

His memberships have included the Oregon State Bar, the Multnomah County Arbitration Commission, and the Multnomah Bar Association.

Marshall was an executive committee member and chairman of the Oregon State Bar Alternative Dispute Resolution Section and served on mediator panels for the Portland Metropolitan Association of Realtors and the East Metro Association of Realtors. He also sat on arbitrator panels for the Multnomah, Clackamas, and Washington County Circuit Courts, as well as the Arbitration Service of Portland.

Marshall received the Award of Merit from the Multnomah Bar Association in 2001.
