Judge David Edgar Rakow - Professional Background & Legal Expertise

Biography

The Hon. David E. Rakow is a judge of the 439th District Court of Texas in Rockwall County. He was appointed to the bench seat by Governor Rick Perry in 2010 and re-elected in 2012 and 2016.

Prior to his appointment, Rakow was a judge for the Rockwall County Court at Law, a position to which he was named in 2004.

Rakow earned a B.A. from the University of Texas Austin in 1991. He then completed a J.D. at Valparaiso University School of Law in 1994.

After graduating from law school, Rakow worked as an assistant district attorney for the District Attorney's Offices in Rockwall County and Kaufman County.

His memberships have included the Rockwall Rotary Club and the Rockwall ISD Education Foundation. He has also volunteered with the Rockwall County YMCA, and he has served on the Board of Trustees of the First United Methodist Church of Rockwall.

Rakow and his wife, Amy, have two sons. Amy has taught sixth grade at Celia Hays Elementary School.

He is a registered Republican.
