Judge Ericka F. H. Englert: Professional Background and Legal Expertise

The Hon. Ericka F. H. Englert is a judge for the 2nd Judicial District Court of Colorado. She was appointed to the bench by Governor Jared Polis on July 1, 2019.

The 2nd Judicial District encompasses Denver County.

Prior to her appointment, Englert was of counsel at Davis Graham & Stubbs, a law firm she joined in 2016. She maintained a business litigation and trial practice, specializing in business torts, energy, oil and gas, real estate, and white collar crime matters. Before that, she spent time as a shareholder at Lewis Bess Williams & Weese (2012 to 2016), assistant trial counsel at the Colorado Supreme Court’s Office of Attorney Regulation Counsel (2011 to 2012), and an attorney at Brownstein Hyatt Farber Schreck (2006 to 2011).

Englert earned a bachelor’s degree in English and geography from Dartmouth College in 1994. She later completed a J.D. at the University of Colorado Law School in 2001. As a law student, Englert was a summer associate at Latham & Watkins (2000).

After graduating from law school, Englert began her legal career as a judicial law clerk for the Colorado Supreme Court. She served in that capacity until 2002, at which time she entered into private practice at Wheeler Trigg Kennedy. She spent the next two years handling motor vehicle franchise litigation and products liability matters before joining the Denver District Attorney’s Office in 2004.

Her memberships have included the American Bar Association, the Colorado Bar Association, the Denver Bar Association, and the Colorado Women’s Bar Association.
