Judge Jason A. Seigars - Professional Background & Legal Expertise

Biography

The Hon. Jason A. Seigars is a special judge for the Garfield County District Court in Oklahoma. He was appointed to the bench by the district judges of the Oklahoma Fourth Judicial District in 2017, filling a vacancy created by the retirement of the Hon. Norman Grey.

Prior to his appointment, Seigars was an assistant district attorney for the Garfield County District Attorney’s Office, a position to which he was named in 2011. During his tenure there, his felony docket responsibilities included the prosecution of homicides, robberies, child abuse, child pornography, and assault and battery. He was also the lead prosecutor for the Deprived Child Civil Docket and co-chair of the Garfield County Multidisciplinary Child Abuse Response Team.

Seigars earned a bachelor’s degree in business administration from Oklahoma State University in 2003. He spent the next several years working as an assistant juvenile officer for the Garfield County Juvenile Office before completing a J.D. at the University of Tulsa College of Law in 2011.

As a law student, Seigars clerked for the Hon. Mary Fitzgerald of the Oklahoma Fourteenth Judicial District (2009) and interned for the United States Attorney’s Office for the Northern District of Oklahoma (2010). He also worked in contract review quality control at Samson Investment Company, and he was the Editor-in-Chief of the Energy Law Journal.
