Biography

The Hon. Joshua T. Burgess is a judge for the 352nd District Court in Tarrant County, Texas. He was appointed to the bench by Governor Greg Abbott in 2017.


Prior to his appointment, Burgess served as an Assistant U.S. Attorney in the Office of the U.S. Attorney for the Northern District of Texas. During his tenure there, he was assigned to the Organized Crime Drug Enforcement Task Force.


Burgess earned a B.A. in communication from Biola University in 1994. Then, in 1997, he completed a J.D. at Washington and Lee University School of Law.


His memberships have included the Tarrant County Bar Association and the Federalist Society. He has also been a member of the Christ Chapel Bible Church.


Burgess moved to Corona, California, with his family in 1986. His father served as pastor for First Baptist Corona. Burgess is a veteran of the United States Air Force, where he served as an assistant staff judge advocate. He was honorably discharged after reaching the rank of Major. He held assignments in the Sheppard Air Force Base as well as in Kyrgyzstan and the United Kingdom.


He is registered as a Republican.
