Judge Kelly N. Kritzer - Professional Background & Legal Expertise

Biography

Hon. Kelly N. Kritzer is a judge for the 13th Judicial District Circuit Court of Oregon in Klamath County. She was appointed to the bench by former Governor Kate Brown on July 14, 2021, filling the vacancy created by the retirement of the Hon. Cameron F. Wogan (Ret.).

Prior to her appointment, Kritzer was the probate commissioner and law clerk for the 13th and 26th Judicial District Circuit Courts. As such, she provided support for the judges in Klamath and Lake Counties and handled probate matters, including trusts, wills, and estates.

Before that, Kritzer worked for eight years in private practice (2008 to 2016) and was a deputy district attorney with the Klamath County District Attorney’s Office.

Kritzer received a bachelor’s degree from the University of Michigan (1991) and an M.S. in archaeological resources management from Ball State University. She then spent time studying and working in archaeology before completing a J.D. at Willamette University College of Law in 2003.

After graduating from law school, she began her legal career as a law clerk for the 13th Judicial District Circuit Court. In addition to her legal career, Kritzer worked as a seasonal archaeologist at Crater Lake National Park since 1998.

She was raised in Michigan.
