Judge Ladd J. Wiles - Professional Background & Legal Expertise

Biography

The Hon. Ladd J. Wiles is a judge for the 25th Judicial District Circuit Court of Oregon. He was elected to the bench in 2014, filling a vacancy created by the resignation of the Hon. Carroll J. Tichenor.

The 25th Judicial District encompasses Yamhill County.

Prior to his election, Wiles was a deputy district attorney for the Yamhill County District Attorney’s Office, a position to which he was named in 2003. Before that, he spent time with the Polk County District Attorney’s Office (2002 to 2003).

Wiles earned a bachelor’s degree from the University of Oregon in 1992. He then completed a J.D. at Lewis & Clark Law School in 1996.

After graduating from law school, Wiles began his legal career as a sole practitioner in his own private practice. He spent the next year handling criminal defense, landlord-tenant, and domestic relations matters before becoming a deputy district attorney for the Coos County District Attorney’s Office. Then, in 2000, he was named in-house counsel for Mericom Corporation.

His memberships have included the McMinnville Lions Club and the Yamhill County Bar Association. He has also been involved with Henderson House, Juliette’s House, and the Oregon State Bar’s Criminal Jury Instruction Committee.

Born and raised in Oregon, Wiles attended Sprague High School (Salem) and Churchill High School (Eugene).
