Hon. Mary C. Reese is an associate judge for the Howard County District Court (District 10) in Maryland. She joined the bench in 2006.
During her judicial tenure, Reese has sat as a member of the Judicial Council’s Specialty Courts and Dockets Committee.
Prior to joining the bench, she spent six years as general counsel to the Howard County Board of Elections (2000 to 2006). Before that, she was in private practice as an associate at Reese & Carney (1996 to 2006).
She received a B.A. in political science and English from Mount St. Mary’s College in 1983. Reese then spent time as a legislative analyst with the National Solid Waste Management Association (1984 to 1985) and the State and Federal Associates (1985 to 1986) before completing a J.D. at the University of Baltimore School of Law in 1989.
After graduating from law school, she began her legal career as a law clerk to the Hon. J. Thomas Nissel with the Howard County Circuit Court (1988 to 1991). Reese also worked as an assistant state’s attorney in Howard County (1990 to 1996).
Her memberships have included the Maryland State Bar Association, the Howard County Bar Association (past president), and the St. Thomas More Society.
Reese was also involved with the Our Lady of Perpetual Help School (board member), the Howard County YMCA (board member), and the Resurrection-St. Paul School (vice-chair).
She is the recipient of the Circuit Court Project Award from the Howard County Bar Association.
Reese, who was born in Baltimore, Maryland, is a member of the Church of the Resurrection.
