Judge Patricia V. Grady - Professional Background & Legal Expertise

Biography

The Hon. Patricia V. Grady is a judge for the 212th District Court of Texas in Galveston County. She was elected to the bench in 2014 and re-elected in 2018. At the time of her election, she became the first Republican-elected judge of the 212th District Court.

Grady earned a B.A. in political science and English from the University of Houston. She then continued her studies at the University of Houston Law Center, where she completed a J.D. in 1991.

After graduating from law school, Grady entered into private practice, specializing in criminal and civil matters. She worked in that capacity until 2011, at which time she became the legal liaison for the Office of the Galveston County Judge. Then, in 2013, she returned to her private practice work.

Her memberships have included the Sand Pipers Republican Womens Club Board of Directors, the Galveston Island Pachyderm Club, the Mid-County Republican Network, the Lighthouse Charity Team, and the 50 Club of Galveston County.

Raised in Houston, Grady is a third-generation Texan. She attended Blessed Sacrament Elementary and Our Lady of Mount Carmel High School. Her husband, the Hon. John Grady, presides as a judge for the Galveston County Court at Law No. 1. They attend Sacred Heart Catholic Church.

She is registered as a Republican.
