Judge Rita B. Cobb: Professional Background and Legal Expertise

The Hon. Rita B. Cobb (Ret.) served as a judge for the 20th Judicial District Circuit Court in Oregon. Cobb was elected to the bench in 2006 and re-elected in 2012. She retired on February 28, 2014.

The 20th Judicial District encompasses Washington County.

Prior to her election, Cobb was a judge pro tem for the Washington County Circuit Court, a position to which she was named in 1990. Before that, she spent time as the court’s probate commissioner (1982 to 1990).

Cobb earned a bachelor’s degree in political science from Purdue University. She then completed a J.D. at Lewis & Clark Law School. She was admitted to the State Bar of Oregon in 1981.
