The Hon. Ronald B. Hurdle is an associate judge for the Dallas County District Courts in Texas. He was appointed to the bench in 2022.
Prior to his appointment, Hurdle was field counsel to Liberty Mutual Insurance, a position to which he was named in 2017. Before that, he spent time as a sole practitioner in his own private practice, supplementing his practice with service as a senior trial attorney for Fred Loya Insurance (2016 to 2017).
Hurdle earned a B.F.A. from Texas Christian University (1979) as well as an M.B.A. (1981) and an M.M. (1991) from the University of Dallas. He spent the next few years working in sales and marketing management for Southwestern Bell, AT&T, and Warner Amex Cable before completing a J.D. at Texas Southern University, Thurgood Marshall School of Law (1994) and an LL.M. at the University of Houston Law Center (2001).
After graduating from law school, Hurdle entered into private practice, working as an attorney in the Law Offices of Lorenzo Brown. He worked in that capacity until 1997, at which time he became lead counsel for the Allstate Insurance Company (1997 to 2008) and managing attorney for Nationwide Insurance Company (2008 to 2011).
Then, in 2012, Hurdle joined the Hartford Financial Services Group. He spent the next two years as a senior staff attorney, handling negligence, contracts, and general liability cases. He then returned to private practice, this time as a partner at the Willis Law Group. He remained with the firm for one year, eventually leaving to become senior trial counsel for the Liberty Mutual Insurance Company.
His memberships have included the Dallas Bar Association, the J. L. Turner Legal Association, and the Mac Taylor American Inn of Court.
