Judge Samuel F. Bluedorn - Professional Background & Legal Expertise

Biography

Hon. Samuel F. Bluedorn is a judge for the Trumbull County Court of Common Pleas (Domestic Relations and Juvenile Division) in Ohio. He was elected to the bench in November 2018.

After joining the bench, he hoped to expedite the time it takes divorce cases to matriculate through the courts and to encourage mediation meetings between parties early in the process to address issues that are in contention.

Bluedorn received a B.A. from Kent State University. He then spent time in the United States Marine Corps Reserves while also working for the Akron and Canton City Prosecutor’s Office. He went on to complete a J.D. at the University of Akron School of Law in 1992.

Prior to his election, Bluedorn had worked as an assistant prosecutor for the City of Warren before embarking on a tenure as a private practice attorney. Over the next twenty-five years, he gained experience as a criminal attorney and also acted as a contract public defender. His areas of practice included domestic, criminal, probate, juvenile, and civil law matters. In addition, Bluedorn was an Accredited Veterans Administration attorney.

He served on the Trumbull County Bar Association Executive Committee, the Certified Grievance Committee (chair), and the Howland Township Board of Zoning Appeals (vice-chair).

Growing up in Warren, Bluedorn is the son of a police officer and Warren City School worker. He is a graduate of Warren Western Reserve.

Bluedorn is registered as a Democrat.
