Judge Stacy W. McCormack - Professional Background & Legal Expertise

Biography

Hon. Stacy W. McCormack is an associate judge for the Anne Arundel County Circuit Court in the Fifth Judicial Circuit of Maryland. She was appointed to the bench by Governor Larry Hogan in 2015.

At the time of her appointment, McCormack was a sole practitioner in her own private practice in Annapolis. Before that, she practiced for two years as an associate in the Jaklitsch Law Group (2013 to 2015). Her areas of practice included criminal and personal injury matters.

Before entering into private practice, she spent the bulk of her legal career working as an assistant public defender with the Maryland Office of the Public Defender (2000 to 2013). During her tenure there, McCormack held an assignment in the Anne Arundel County Felony Division (2009 to 2013) and was the supervising attorney of the Appellate Division (2000 to 2009).

She also taught for twelve years as an adjunct faculty member at the University of Baltimore School of Law (2000 to 2012).

McCormack received a B.A. in criminology from the University of Maryland in 1993. She went on to complete a J.D. at the University of Baltimore School of Law in 1996. She was admitted to practice in Maryland (1996) and the District of Columbia (2014).

After graduating from law school, McCormack began her legal career as a law clerk to the Hon. Charles E. Moylan, Jr. with the Maryland Court of Special Appeals (1997 to 2000).

Her memberships have included the Maryland State Bar Association (Fellow), the Anne Arundel County Bar Association (Board of Directors), and the Prince George’s County Bar Association.

She volunteered her time with the Green Hornets Organization, the Bay Area Lacrosse Club, and the Annapolis Hawks Lacrosse Club. McCormack also served as a member of the Advisory Board for the Blue Ribbon Project.

She was born in Fort Meade, Maryland.
