Judge Wallace H. Bateman: Professional Background and Legal Expertise

The Hon. Wallace H. Bateman is the President Judge of the Bucks County Court of Common Pleas in Pennsylvania. He was appointed to the bench by former Governor Ed Rendell on October 7, 2008.

Over the course of his judicial career, Bateman sat as the Administrative Judge of the Criminal Division (2010 to 2019). He was subsequently named President Judge, tasked with overseeing court operations and supervising Adult and Juvenile Probation, Domestic Relations, and the Juvenile Detention Center.

Bateman earned a bachelor’s degree in business administration from La Salle University in 1979. He then completed a J.D. at Widener University Delaware Law School in 1982.

After graduating from law school, Bateman began his legal career with the Bucks County District Attorney’s Office, where he served as an assistant district attorney and a deputy district attorney. Then, in 1987, he entered into private practice at Grim, Biehn & Thatcher. During his tenure there, he handled criminal law, family law, and civil litigation matters, quickly rising through the ranks to become a shareholder.

Bateman has served as an adjunct faculty member at Bucks County Community College and a facilitator in the MBA Program at Holy Family University. He also spent time as a solicitor for the Bucks County Sheriff’s Department.
