Biography

The Hon. Alane C. Laboda is a judge for the 20th Judicial Circuit Court of Florida. She was appointed to the bench by former Governor Charlie Crist in 2008.

The 20th Judicial Circuit encompasses Charlotte County, Collier County, Glades County, Hendry County, and Lee County. Laboda has held assignments in multiple counties, presiding over cases in the civil, probate, and guardianship divisions.

Laboda received her B.A. from George Washington University in 1989. She went on to earn a J.D. from the University of Miami School of Law in 1992.

After graduating from law school, Laboda began her legal career as an assistant state attorney with the Office of the State Attorney for the Twentieth Judicial Circuit. During her five-year tenure there, she helped prosecute cases involving violent felony crimes including capital offenses. Then, in 1997, she entered into private practice, handling criminal and civil litigation matters as a partner at Henderson, Franklin, Starnes, and Holt, P.A.

She was raised in Fort Myers, Florida.
