Judge Alexandria D. Quam: Professional Background and Legal Expertise

The Hon. Alexandria D. Quam is a commissioner for the Contra Costa County Superior Court in California.

Prior to her appointment, Quam was a family law facilitator for the Marin County Superior Court, a position she held for thirteen years. During that time, she sat as the managing legal self help attorney as well as the director of family court services.

Quam earned a bachelor’s degree in social and behavioral science and La Raza studies from San Francisco State University. She then completed a J.D. at the New College of California School of Law. She was admitted to the State Bar of California in 1999.

After graduating from law school, Quam entered into private practice, specializing in family law matters. She supplemented her practice with service as a pro bono volunteer for the Family and Children’s Law Center and Legal Aid.

Her memberships have included the Marin County Law Library (board member) and the Marin County Lawyers in the Law Library Program (founder).

She was named Family Court Employee of the Year by the California State Bar (2017).
