Biography

The Hon. Antonia (Toni) Arteaga is a judge for the 57th (Civil) District Court in Bexar County, Texas. She was elected to the bench in 2008 and re-elected in 2012, 2016, and 2020.


Prior to her election, Arteaga worked as an attorney in private practice, supplementing her practice with service as a judge for the San Antonio Municipal Court (2006 to 2008).


Arteaga earned a B.A. in government and sociology from the University of Texas at Austin. Then, in 2000, she completed a J.D. at St. Mary's University School of Law.


She has served as chairperson of the Bexar County Court Security Committee and co-chairperson for the Civil Jury Monitoring Committee. She has also been involved with the National Campaign to Stop Violence and the Bexar County Juvenile Board.


Her judicial campaign has received endorsements from the Deputy Sheriffs Association of Bexar County, the Northeast Bexar County Democrats, the San Antonio AFL-CIO, the San Antonio Police Officers Association, the San Antonio Professional Firefighters Association, and the Stonewall Democrats of San Antonio.


Arteaga is registered as a Democrat.
