Biography

The Hon. Antonino J. Agbayani, Jr. is a judge for the San Joaquin County Superior Court in California. He was appointed to the bench by former Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger in 2007.


He is a registered Republican.


Judge Agbayani graduated with his B.A. in political science from California State University, Stanislaus in 1978. He went on to earn his J.D. from the University of California, Davis School of Law in 1981.


He began his legal career with the San Joaquin County District Attorney's Office, where he worked as a deputy district attorney from 1983 to 1992.


Agbayani then entered into solo practice, where he served as a defense attorney for fourteen years.


He left the private sector in 2006 after he was selected to serve as a court commissioner for the San Joaquin County Superior Court. At the time of his appointment as court commissioner, Agbayani held the distinction of being the first person of Filipino descent to serve in that position in San Joaquin County. He remained in that capacity until being elevated to the bench the following year.


Jude Agbayani is a native of Stockton, California. He and his wife Tonia have nine children.
