Judge April D. Drake: Professional Background and Legal Expertise

Hon. April D. Drake is a judge for the Wayne County Circuit Court in Indiana. She was appointed to the bench by Governor Eric Holcomb on June 3, 2021, filling the vacancy created by the retirement of the Hon. David A. Kolger (Ret.).

Prior to her appointment, Drake worked as chief deputy prosecutor of the Wayne County Prosecutor’s Office since 2016. She joined the office as a deputy prosecutor in 2011.

Drake received a bachelor’s degree from Georgetown College. She went on to complete a J.D. at Indiana University Maurer School of Law.

After graduating from law school, Drake began her legal career in private practice, where she handled civil and family law matters. Then, in 2004, she began a two-year tenure as a public defender in Wayne County.

Drake is a native of Grant County.
