Judge Brett Bianco: Professional Background and Legal Expertise

The Hon. Brett Bianco is a judge for the Los Angeles County Superior Court in California. He was appointed to the bench in 2017 by former Governor Jerry Brown.

He is a registered Democrat.

Judge Bianco received his B.S. from the University of Utah in 1990. He went on to earn his J.D. from Pepperdine University School of Law in 1993.

After graduating from law school, Bianco joined the Riverside County District Attorney's Office, where he worked as a deputy district attorney until 2000. While there, Bianco prosecuted child abuse cases.

He left the public arena that year to become a senior associate at the Calabasas law firm of Green de Bortnowsky and Quintanilla, where he would practice for one year.

Then, in 2001, Bianco became court counsel at the Los Angeles County Superior Court, a position he would hold until his appointment to the bench in 2017.

Judge Bianco, who was assigned to the Edmund D. Edelman Children's Courthouse after his appointment to the bench, has spoken on the subjects of child welfare and juvenile justice. He has also served as a foster parent and has chaired the Child Abuse Multi-Disciplinary Interview Team.

His brother, Chad Bianco, was sworn in as the Riverside County's 14th Sheriff in 2019. Judge Bianco presided over the swearing-in ceremony by delivering the oath of office to his brother.
