Hon. Bruce C. Fox is a judge for the 2nd Judicial District Court of New Mexico in Bernalillo County. He was appointed to the bench by Governor Michelle Lujan Grisham in 2021.
Fox, a strong supporter of drug courts and mental health courts, has worked with a fellow District Court judge to restart the 2nd Judicial District Veterans Court.
Prior to his appointment, he spent eight years as the Chief Judge and two years as a public defender for the Pueblo of Laguna. While there, Fox was involved with the Healing to Wellness Court.
Over the course of his legal career, he also served as a public defender in the Felony and Mental Health Units of the New Mexico Law Offices of the Public Defender in Albuquerque and was a legal aid attorney at DNA People’s Legal Services on the Navajo Nation.
Fox received a B.A. from the University of Connecticut. He went on to complete a J.D. at Western New England University School of Law. Fox was admitted to practice in New Mexico in 1993.
His memberships include the New Mexico Criminal Defense Lawyers Association Board of Directors, the Family Crisis Center Board of Directors, the Albuquerque Bar Association, and the New Mexico Supreme Court Uniform Jury Instructions Committee and Tribal-State Judicial Consortium Committee.
Fox, who is registered as a Democrat, served as ward chair, ward vice chair, precinct chair, and Central Committee member of the Democratic Party of New Mexico.
