Judge Christopher Brown - Professional Background & Legal Expertise

Biography

Hon. Christopher Brown is a judge for the Franklin County Court of Common Pleas (General Division) in Ohio. He was elected to the bench on November 4, 2014 and re-elected in 2020.

Brown received a B.A. in political science from Ohio State University in 2002. He went on to complete a J.D. at Capital University Law School in 2005. While in law school, he worked as a part-time legal intern for the Franklin County Prosecutor’s Office.

After graduating from law school, Brown joined the Prosecutor’s Office as an assistant prosecuting attorney in the Juvenile Division. He worked his way up through the ranks to hold assignments in the Felony Grand Jury Division and later the Special Victims Unit, where he prosecuted violent felony cases involving sexual assault and domestic abuse.

Then, in 2012, Brown left the public sector to become a managing attorney in the J. Scott Weisman Law Offices, where he was tasked with managing the operations of the firm, including all court appearances, motion hearings, and criminal trials. In addition, he handled appellate and post-conviction cases.

He was raised in Merion Village and is a graduate of Columbus South High School. Growing up, his father was a small business owner and his mother worked as a teacher with Columbus Public Schools. Away from the bench, Brown enjoys playing basketball and listening to music. At the time of his election, he resided in Bexley with his wife and daughter.
