Judge Christy Craig - Professional Background & Legal Expertise

Biography

The Hon. Christy Craig is a judge for the Eighth Judicial District Court in Clark County, Nevada. She was elected to the bench on November 3, 2020.

Prior to her election, Craig served as a deputy public defender in the Clark County Public Defender’s Office. She held this position for more than two decades, working as team chief of the Complex Litigation Unit. Craig also played an instrumental role in the establishment of the Mental Health Court Diversionary Program.

Craig earned a bachelor’s degree from the University of Nevada, Las Vegas in 1993. She then completed a J.D. at California Western School of Law in 1996. Craig is Nevada Supreme Court Rule 250 certified to handle capital homicide cases.

Her memberships have included the Local Law Enforcement Advisory Committee, the Social Services Citizens Advisory Committee, and the Lake’s Crossing Task Force.

Born in Fort Benning, Georgia, Craig spent several years working as a medical technician.

She is registered as a Democrat.
