Judge Dale C. Cohen - Professional Background & Legal Expertise

Biography

Hon. Dale C. Cohen (Ret.) was a judge for the 17th Judicial Circuit Court of Florida in Broward County. He was appointed to the bench by former Governor Jeb Bush in 2006, filling the vacancy created by the Hon. George Brescher.

During his judicial tenure, Cohen held an assignment in the Unified Family Court Division.

He received a B.S. in finance from the University of Florida in 1983. Cohen then completed a J.D. at the University of Florida, Fredric G. Levin College of Law, in 1986.

After graduating from law school, he began his legal career as an assistant state attorney with the Office of the State Attorney. Cohen later established his own law firm in 1990, where he remained until his appointment to the bench in 2006.

In 2012, he was publicly reprimanded by the Florida Supreme Court for violating the Code of Judicial Conduct.

His wife, the Hon. Mardi Levey Cohen, has also served as a judge for the Broward County Court.
