Judge Dan C. Grober: Professional Background and Legal Expertise

The Hon. Dan C. Grober (Ret.) served as a magistrate for the Owyhee County Magistrate Court in Idaho. Grober was appointed to the bench by the 3rd Judicial District Magistrates Commission on August 3, 2007. He retired at the conclusion of his term on January 14, 2019.

Prior to his appointment, Grober was a sole practitioner in his own private practice, a law firm he opened in Homedale. Before that, he spent time as assistant bar counsel to the Idaho State Bar (1989 to 1996).

Grober earned a bachelor's degree in journalism from Eastern Illinois University (1971) and a master's degree from Boise State University (1981). He then completed a J.D. at the University of Idaho College of Law in 1985. He is licensed to practice in Idaho (1986), the United States District Court for the District of Idaho, and the United States Court of Appeals for the 9th Circuit.

After graduating from law school, Grober entered into private practice in Twin Falls. He supplemented his practice with service as a public defender in Jerome County.

Born and raised in Roxana, Illinois, Grober worked as a felony investigator for the State of Indiana before relocating to Owyhee County in 1976. He spent the next three years teaching English at Rimrock Junior-Senior High School.
