Biography

The Hon. Daniel Gaul is a judge for the General Division of the Cuyahoga County Court of Common Pleas in Ohio. He joined the bench in 1991.


In 2010, Gaul began a six-month suspension of his law license from the Board of Commissioners on Grievances and Discipline. The suspension came after the Ohio Supreme Court concluded that Gaul had made improper public statements in court and improperly attempted to initiate an Amber Alert.


Gaul earned a bachelor’s degree from Cleveland State University in 1977. He then completed a J.D. at Capital University Law School in 1981.


After graduating from law school, Gaul entered into private practice, where he specialized in civil and criminal litigation for ten years.


His memberships have included the Board of Commissioners on Grievances and Discipline for the Ohio Supreme Court.


Born in 1953, Gaul attended Notre Dame-Cathedral Latin School. He currently resides in North Olmsted, Ohio.


He is registered as a Democrat.
