Judge Daniel J. Clifford - Professional Background & Legal Expertise

Biography

Hon. Daniel J. Clifford is a judge for the Montgomery County Court of Common Pleas in Pennsylvania. He was elected to the bench in 2015.

Clifford received a bachelor’s degree in political science from the University of Pennsylvania in 1981. He went on to earn a J.D. from the University of Baltimore School of Law in 1984.

Prior to his election to the bench, Clifford was a managing partner at the law firm Weber Gallagher, LLP. He also served as a managing partner at Wolf Block. While in private practice, he handled family and domestic law cases.

While on the bench, Clifford has presided on the Family Court.

His memberships have included the Montgomery County Bar Association and the Pennsylvania Bar Association, of which he has served on various committees. These have included the Montgomery County Bar Association's Diversity Committee, Long Range Planning Committee, Nominating Committee, and the Judiciary Committee. His Pennsylvania Bar Association Committees have included its Judicial Administration Committee, Family Law Section Council, Family Law Section Executive Committee, Family Law Section Rules Committee, Family Law Section Program Committee, and its Diversity Task Force.

Clifford also served on the Board of Directors of Adoptions From the Heart, on the advisory board of Office of Children and Youth, and the Board of Directors of the Equality Forum.

Among his accomplishments, he helped spearhead the “Judicial Interview of the Child” video which seeks to educate judges, lawyers, and parents on how to interview children involved in custody cases.

He and his partner are parents to an adopted son.
