Judge David Andrew Gottlieb: Professional Background and Legal Expertise

The Hon. David Andrew Gottlieb is a judge for the Superior Court of Fresno County, California. On April 11, 2005, he was appointed to the bench by former Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger to succeed the Hon. A. Dennis Caeton. He was re-elected in 2008 and re-elected again in 2014 after running unopposed.

Judge Gottlieb received his B.A. from the University of California, Santa Barbara and later his J.D. from the University of San Francisco School of Law.

Before being appointed to the bench he was Commissioner for the Superior Courts in Fresno County, California. Prior to his job as court Commissioner, Gottlieb was in private practice for five years. He is a certified Criminal Law Specialist with fifteen years of experience in criminal defense. He is a member of the California Judges Association’s Criminal Law Committee.

He is a Democrat.
