Biography

Hon. David S. Gibson, Jr. is a judge for the Eighth Judicial District Court in Clark County, Nevada. He was appointed to the bench by former Governor Brian Sandoval in 2018.

Gibson received a B.A. in English from the University of Nevada, Las Vegas in 1999. He went on to earn a J.D. from the William S. Boyd School of Law at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas in 2002. Before graduating from University, he served a two-year mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Capetown, South Africa (1993 to 1995).

While in law school, he clerked at Rands, South & Gardner. Gibson remained with the firm as an associate after obtaining his law degree. In 2003, he briefly entered into solo practice before joining Mills & Mills the following year.

Gibson returned to solo practice in 2007, where he would remain until being appointed to serve as a juvenile dependency hearing master in the Family Division of the Eighth Judicial District Court in 2012. He held that position until his appointment to the District Court bench.

During his tenure on the District Court, Gibson has presided on the Family Court.

Gibson, who is an Eagle Scout, is a lifelong resident of Henderson, Nevada. He holds a black belt in Chun Kuk Karate and a blue belt in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu. Some of his hobbies include tabletop gaming, reading, and travel.
