Biography

The Hon. Dirk J. Bron, Jr., is a magistrate for the Laurens County Magistrate Court in South Carolina. He was appointed to the bench by Governor Henry D. McMaster in 2017.

The magistrate court presides over landlord/tenant hearings, summons and complaint cases (to claim disputed funds), claim and delivery cases (to reclaim property), and public sales of abandoned vehicles. Its magistrates also hear criminal and traffic cases, issue warrants and set bonds, and hold preliminary hearings and transfer cases for the county.

Bron earned a bachelor’s degree in criminal justice from the University of South Carolina Upstate in 2016.

After graduating from high school, Bron joined the Army National Guard. Then, in 1998, he became a trooper with the South Carolina Highway Patrol in Allendale County and Newberry County. During his tenure there, he rose through the ranks, eventually becoming a corporal in 2012.
