Judge Doug Arnold - Professional Background & Legal Expertise

Biography

The Hon. Doug Arnold is a judge for the Williamson County Court at Law No. 3 in Texas. He was appointed to the bench by the Williamson County Commissioners on December 1, 2010.

Arnold earned a bachelor's degree in history from the University of Texas at Austin in 1990. Then, in 1993, he completed a J.D. at Vanderbilt Law School. He is Board Certified in Criminal Law and Criminal Appeals by the Texas Board of Legal Specialization.

After graduating from law school, Arnold began his legal career as a briefing attorney for the Hon. Charles Campbell of the Texas Court of Criminal Appeals. The following year, he joined the Harris County District Attorney's Office as an assistant district attorney. He served in that capacity until 1998, at which time he transferred to the Williamson County District Attorney's Office.

As a sixth-generation Texan, Arnold was raised in Seguin, where he graduated from Seguin High School in 1986. He currently resides in Georgetown with his wife, a psychology professor. They are members of the First Presbyterian Church. When not presiding over cases, he enjoys reading and playing sports. He also volunteers for the Georgetown High School Tennis Boosters and serves on the Board of Directors of the Georgetown Dribblers and the Williamson Museum.

Arnold is registered as a Republican.
