The Hon. Douglas B. Cummins is a judge for the Johnson County Superior Court in Indiana. He was appointed to the bench by Governor Eric Holcomb on May 19, 2022, filling a vacancy created by the resignation of the Hon. Lance Hamner.
Prior to his appointment, Cummins was a magistrate for the Johnson County Superior Court, a position to which he was named in 2015. Before that, he spent time as a sole practitioner in his own private practice (2013 to 2015) as well as a deputy prosecuting attorney for the Johnson County Prosecutor’s Office (2005 to 2013).
Cummins earned a bachelor’s degree in business administration and management from the University of Maryland College Park in 1996. He later received a J.D. at Indiana University, Robert H. McKinney School of Law in 2006. Cummins is currently completing a master’s degree in christian apologetics from Liberty University.
A veteran of the United States Air Force, Cummins spent ten years as a Russian cryptologic linguist. He has also co-owned Rock of Ages Animal Rescue and Sanctuary.
