Hon. Felice G. Kerr is a judge for the Family Court in New Castle County, Delaware. She was appointed to the Family Court by former Governor Jack Markell in June 2015 and was confirmed by the Delaware State Senate that same month. She filled the vacancy created by the confirmation of the Hon. Michael Newell to chief judge of the Family Court.
Kerr received a B.A. from Villanova University in 1986. She went on to earn a J.D. from Suffolk University Law School in 1989.
Before beginning her judicial career, she practiced as a partner at Laffey & Kerr, PA (1994 to 2000) and was an associate at Bayard, PA (2000 to 2007). Kerr also served as the managing partner of MacElree Harvey. As such, she maintained a family law practice with a focus on divorce, property division, alimony, custody, visitation, child support, and domestic violence issues.
In addition to her practice at MacElree Harvey, Kerr also maintained an alternative dispute resolution practice.
Her memberships included the Delaware Lawyers’ Fund for Client Protection (board of trustees and past-chairperson) and the Delaware State Bar’s Family Law Section (past-chairperson).
Kerr has been an active volunteer in her community. She served as a volunteer attorney for the Delaware Volunteer Legal Services, the Domestic Violence Advocacy Program, and the Office of the Child Advocate. She also served as a volunteer with the Lutheran Church of the Good Shepherd, the Boy Scouts of America, and as a coach for the Delaware High School Mock Trial Competition.
Kerr is a founding member of the Parenting Coordination Council of Delaware.
