Judge Gary R. Tabor - Professional Background & Legal Expertise

Biography

Hon. Gary R. Tabor (Ret.) was a judge for the Thurston County Superior Court in Washington. He joined the bench in 1996. Tabor retired in 2017.

During his judicial career, Tabor served two terms as presiding judge of the Thurston County Superior Court and held an assignment in the Thurston County DUI/Drug Court program.

Tabor received a B.S. in education from Oklahoma Christian College in 1968. He went on to complete a J.D. at the University of Puget Sound School of Law in 1977.

Tabor served as an officer in the United States Air Force from 1969 to 1975.

Prior to joining the bench, he had worked as a deputy prosecuting attorney in Thurston County for over eighteen years. During that time, Tabor held an assignment as the chief criminal deputy prosecutor for twelve years.

He also taught constitutional and criminal law for several years as an adjunct professor at St. Martin’s College.

Tabor and his wife, Donna, have four adult daughters.
