Judge J. Ronald Carrier: Professional Background and Legal Expertise

Hon. J. Ronald Carrier is an associate circuit judge for the 31st Judicial Circuit Court (Division 26) of Missouri. He was appointed to the bench by former Governor Jay Nixon in 2013.

The 31st Judicial Circuit includes Greene County.

Prior to his appointment, Carrier worked as Southwest Regional chief counsel with the Missouri Attorney General’s Office (2002 to 2013). He first joined the office as an assistant attorney general in 1999.

Before that, Carrier served as the Prosecuting Attorney with the Greene County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office (1996 to 1998), having joined that office as an assistant prosecutor in 1990.

He received a B.A. in political science from Drury University in 1986. Carrier went on to complete a J.D. at the University of Missouri School of

Law in 1988.

He was admitted to practice in Missouri (1989), the United States District Court for the Western District of Missouri (1989), and Colorado (2003).

Carrier has held a membership with the Springfield Metropolitan Bar Association.

He received recognition from the United States Department of Justice for legal training given in a joint antipublic corruption court in the Republic of Kosovo. He also received the Roosevelt Award for his efforts in creating a drug court program in Greene County as well as the Dr. John P. Ferguson Award for Child Advocacy.

From a civic standpoint, Carrier has been involved with Drury University’s Meador Center for Politics and Citizenship Advisory Board; Ozark Greenways, Inc. (volunteer); Greene County 100 Club; and the Child Advocacy Center.
