Judge Jacqueline M. Burchill - Professional Background & Legal Expertise

Biography

The Hon. Jacqueline M. Burchill is an associate justice for the Norfolk County Probate and Family Court in Massachusetts. She was appointed to the bench by Governor Charlie Baker on June 5, 2019.

Over the course of her judicial career, Burchill has held assignments in the Plymouth County Probate and Family Court.

Burchill earned a bachelor’s degree in political science and sociology from Boston University in 1989. She then completed a J.D. at Suffolk University Law School in 1992.

After graduating from law school, Burchill began her legal career as a staff attorney for Inmate Legal Services at the Suffolk County House of Correction in 1992. She then entered into private practice later that year, joining Giarrusso, Norton, Cooley & McGlone as an associate.

Burchill left the firm in 1999. At that time, she began working in private client group sales at Mellon Private Asset Management. She worked in this capacity until 2002. Then, in 2008, she returned to Giarrusso, Norton, Cooley & McGlone, specializing in domestic relations and family law matters as well as personal injury, environment, and criminal claims.

Her memberships have included the Massachusetts Bar Association and the Norfolk County Bar Association. She has also served as co-president of the Parent Student Organization for the Osgood Elementary School.

Burchill was born in Boston, Massachusetts. She was a resident of Cohasset at the time of her appointment.
