Biography

The Hon. Jay S. Grant is a judge for the 2nd Judicial District Court of Colorado. He was appointed to the bench by former Governor John Hickenlooper on April 13, 2016, filling a vacancy created by the resignation of the Hon. R. Michael Mullins.

The 2nd Judicial District encompasses Denver County.

Prior to his appointment, Grant was a deputy state public defender with the Denver Trial Office of the Colorado State Public Defender’s Office. He worked in that capacity for seventeen years.

Grant earned a bachelor’s degree (1989) and a master’s degree in history (1992) from New Mexico State University. He then completed a J.D. at Oklahoma City University School of Law in 1997.
