Judge Jennifer J. Wernersbach: Professional Background and Legal Expertise

Hon. Jennifer J. Wernersbach is a judge for the 2nd Judicial District Court of New Mexico in Bernalillo County. She was appointed to the bench by Governor Michelle Lujan Grisham in January 2021.

Prior to her appointment, Wernersbach spent sixteen years as a trial attorney, handling criminal and civil rights matters in the state and federal court. During that time, she managed her own private practice, the Law Offices of Jennifer J. Wernersbach, P.C. (2006 to 2014 and 2015 to 2021), and was an attorney at Kennedy Kennedy & Ives (2014 to 2015). Wernersbach also spent two years as an assistant public defender with the New Mexico Law Offices of the Public Defender (2004 to 2006).

She received a B.S. in business administration and art history from the University of Tulsa in 1998. Wernersbach went on to complete a J.D. at the University of New Mexico School of Law in 2004.

She is registered as a Democrat.
