Biography

Hon. Jennifer L. Rogers is a judge for the Luzerne County Court of Common Pleas in Pennsylvania. She was elected to the bench on November 8, 2011.


During her judicial tenure, Rogers has held an assignment in the Family Court.


She received a B.A. in English and journalism from the University of Delaware in 1989. Rogers then spent the next three years working as a public relations associate at Wyoming Valley Healthcare System (1990 to 1993) before completing a J.D. at Widener University, Delaware Law School in 1996. While in law school, she worked as a judicial intern for the Hon. Daniel E. Klein, Jr. with the United States District Court for the District of Maryland (1994) and a summer associate at Hourigan, Kluger & Quinn, P.C. (1995).


Rogers was admitted to practice before the Supreme Court of Pennsylvania, New York, and New Jersey, the United States District Court for the Middle District of Pennsylvania, and the United States Court of Appeals for the Third Circuit.


After law school, she remained at Hourigan, Kluger & Quinn, P.C., practicing as a senior associate in their Kingston office (1996 to 2006). At the firm, she handled commercial litigation matters.


Prior to joining the bench, she was a part-time solicitor with the Luzerne County Children and Youth Services (2007 to 2011) and a sole practitioner at her own private practice, the Law Offices of Jennifer L. Rogers, LLC (2006 to 2011). Her practice included commercial litigation, estate planning and administration, real estate transactions, family law, contracts, personal injury, property disputes, and civil litigation.


Rogers held memberships with the Pennsylvania Bar Association and the American Bar Association. Her other memberships included the executive board of the Wilkes-Barre Law and Library Association and the Board of Directors of the Greater Scranton Film Office and Music Box Dinner Playhouse. In addition, Rogers was a former board member of Northeastern Pennsylvania Boy Scouts of America, Northeastern Pennsylvania Junior Achievement, and Big Brothers/Big Sisters.


In her free time, she enjoys theatre, music, antiques, running, and resistance training.


Rogers is registered as a Democrat.
